30 days of GRATITUDE – day 30 (FINISH LINE)

30 days — i DiD it!

RED SUN drawing MUDD LAVOIE

I am grateful for sticking to the challenge all the way through because over this 30-day period I developed a writing habit and now, as soon as I wake up in the morning, I’m excited about “writing” as much as I was excited about “playing” when I was a kid. YES!

I am grateful for not giving up on the challenge because now I know that discipline has its rewards.

I am grateful to be a new fan of discipline because next monday is the start of my “shape up or ship out” challenge and thanks to the discipline I’ve acquired, I know for sure I’ll be reaching my goal — to get my body into the BEST and most BEAUTIFUL shape EVER.

I am grateful for my new SUPERPOWER because I can now snap myself out of any negative state as soon as it arises — NOTHING is going to slow me down and keep me from making my dreams come true… especially not ME.

I am grateful for Nicole Cody because she is a gifted teacher and the Universe put her on my path at just the right moment: when the student in me was ready to learn.

THANK YOU, NICOLE!

THANK YOU, UNIVERSE!

30 days of GRATITUDE – day 29 (it’s my BIRTHDAY)

I turned 62 at precisely 9:10 this morning. And since it’s my birthday, I’m making this short & sweet.

Today’s 5 gratitudes are the most important ones for me.
The ones I’m most grateful for.

I am grateful for Sébastien,
my son — born in September 1973,
because he is LOVE.

I am grateful for Vincent,
my son — born in April 1979,
because he is LOVE.

I am grateful for Samuel,
my grandson — born in July 2002,
because he is LOVE.

I am grateful for Benjamin,
my grandson — born in September 2003,
because he is LOVE.

I am grateful for Justin,
my grandson — born in June 2006,
because he is LOVE.

THANK YOU, UNIVERSE!

30 days of GRATITUDE – day 28 (part two)

So what’s in the BIG BOX…?

BIG BOX SURPRISE for my birthday MUDD LAVOIE

a PARTY!!!

PARTY IN A BOX for my birthday MUDD LAVOIE

Can you imagine what it was like for me to open the box and see all the Peace-Love flowers and pretty glittery things explode in a kaleidoscope of colours? WOW. Digging into the heap, I found the bag… with the bottle of shower gel, Vetiver from Haiti by Yves Rocher — bubble bath! Look  in the lower left-hand corner of the picture, that’s a small bottle of patchouli oil wrapped in green and tied with pink ribbons. I’m going to be one heck of a good-smellin’ mama.

But there’s MORE…

BIRTHDAY CARD FROM SYLVIE for me MUDD LAVOIE

A birthday card! And Sylvie sure knows how to pick them — right up my alley… LOVE it. It’s a reproduction of a painting by Michel Sylvain called Au Pain Chaud. Inside the card, I found another surprise: a financial contribution which is now in my piggy bank. I’ll probably use a part of it to treat myself to a few cups of coffee at one of the cool coffee shops around here and live the good life on a terrasse!

I am grateful for my friend Sylvie Robert — a beautiful soul, a damn good photographer, a budding scriptwriter — because she sure knows how to throw a party… and how to make someone feel so very loved.

THANK YOU, SYLVIE… I LOVE YOU!

Now for the card that was under the red tag key in the mailbox…

BIRTHDAY CARD FROM JEANNINE for me MUDD LAVOIE

It’s from my son’s mother-in-law… my daughter-in-law’s mother… my dear friend Jeannine. For those of you who can’t read French, it says: Today, I wish you the moon… Tomorrow, I wish you the sun… Always, I wish you the stars… Beautiful, huh? In it, I found a financial contribution — more abundance! I feel blessed.

I am grateful for Jeannine because we share the same love for our children — she considers my son her son, I consider her daughter my daughter — and now that we have 3 grandsons, the bond between us is even stronger. She is my friend. She is my sister. She is a straight-talkin’ woman with a heart of gold — no matter how cliché that is to say, it’s damn true!

THANK YOU, JEANNINE… I LOVE YOU!

And this brings us to my last surprise, one that’s been stuck to my refrigerator door since July 17.

BIRTHDAY CARD FROM CÉLINE for me MUDD LAVOIE

It’s an envelope… with a card in it, I suppose… from my lovely crazy friend Céline. I will FINALLY be allowed to open it tonight, at one minute past midnight. Geez!

I am grateful for my lovely crazy friend Céline because she has been there for me through thick and thin, loving me unconditionally, never judging, never questioning, always ready to light up and blast off. HAAAAAA!!!

THANKS, CÉLINE… LOVE YOU!

So with the 2 gratitudes in part one and the 3 I’ve mentioned here, that makes 5 for today. Yay.

THANK YOU, UNIVERSE!

30 days of GRATITUDE – day 28 (part one)

This whole mailbox thing is still new to me even though I moved from the city to the mountains 9 months ago. When I lived in Montreal, the mail was delivered to my door; as for parcels, I had to pick them up at the post office. But this rural postal experience is turning out to be lots of fun — it was already on my list of gratitudes on Day 19 of the Challenge. Today, I’ll be walking you through the whole exciting journey leading up to the surprise I got last night.

It was 7:00 pm. I was working on my blog posts for Day 27 when it dawned on me that I hadn’t been outside for two days. Not only that, but there was a foul smell coming from my garbage pail, so it was time for me to get some fresh air.

After throwing the stinky bag into the bin behind the sheds, I walked down the street to check my mailbox.

I am grateful for what follows because it made me so happy that I had goose bumps and shaky hands.

I opened my box and TA DAH what should I see but a birthday card and a RED TAG KEY.

SURPRISE DOOR #1 and SURPRISE DOOR #2 photo MUDD LAVOIE

I knew the red tag key meant I had received some sort of package because last week, a red tag key was in my box when I got that gift from a friend whose identity I still can’t disclose; the red tag key had then served to open Door #1. But this time, the tag was marked with a 2… it was for Door #2 — the BIG door.

THE BIG BOX photo MUDD LAVOIE

And there it was… THE BIG BOX. I knew who it was from even before I opened the door — Sylvie! We’ve been friends since 1977. From 1978 to 1981, during my back-to-nature episode, we corresponded non-stop, sending each other 2, 3, 4 letters a week. No internet back then.

So here we are once again, she in the city, me in the country, united by a mailbox. HA!

I am grateful for my friend Sylvie Robert — a beautiful soul, a damn good photographer, a budding scriptwriter — because… oh I won’t even bother to explain why. You’ll see why in part two. You’ll also see what’s in the envelope. Is this exciting or WHAT?!!

But the journey’s not over. Once the package is retrieved, we have to lock the door and throw the red tag key in the slot on the upper right-hand corner of the mailbox.

PROUDLY THEY STAND photo MUDD LAVOIE

And so my mailbox story comes to an end — see how proudly they stand, messengers of joy and good wishes. Remember to stick around for part two.

THANK YOU, UNIVERSE!
