The kitchen walls have received their second and last coat of paint — YESSS! Next step: the kitchen cabinets.
The building I live in was built in 1959 and the cabinets are still the same as they were back then, give or take a few coats of paint. I had a LOT of cleaning and painting to do inside the bottom part. Here’s what was waiting for me when I moved in:
This was the good-looking side…
This was the REALLY bad-looking side.
The bad-looking side has all the pipes running through it for the washing machine. Once I get to that part of my RENO DECO trip, I’ll show you how strange the set-up is for the appliances.
So here’s an exterior view of the cabinets:
Notice the colour of the walls — a yellow-beige. I love it!
My choice of colours for the kitchen was inspired by this picture of a circa 50s armchair I found online:
The yellow-beige is what I chose for the walls. As for the cabinets’ frame, I’m going with the light greyish green, and the doors and drawers will be the Granny Smith green. When the time comes to make curtains, I’ll find a way to add a touch of that red.
What do you think?
